Congress extends tax credit closing deadline to September 30. The extension applies only to transactions that have ratified contracts in place as of April 30, 2010, that have not yet closed.

U.S. service members may qualify for the homebuyer tax credits through April
2011. Members of the U.S. military, foreign service and intelligence
communities have another year to purchase a home and claim the
homebuyer tax credit. For all others, the law requires qualifying buyers to enter into a binding contract to buy a principal residence by April 30, 2010 and close on the home by June 30, 2010.
